How Your Data Gets Locked
Every file, message, and piece of data is locked before it leaves your browser using bank-grade encryption. iMegha uses multiple layers of locks so that even if one is somehow broken, everything else stays protected.
Multiple Locks, Not Just One
Think of it like a safety deposit box inside a vault inside a bank. Each layer adds protection. Your password creates the outermost lock. Inside that is your master key. And inside that are individual locks for every file and conversation.
Your Password
Creates the outermost lock. Only you know it. We never see it.
Your Master Key
Locked by your password. Stored safely but unreadable without you.
Per-file lock
Per-chat lock
Per-folder lock
Per-album lock
Every file gets its own unique lock. Every conversation gets its own lock. If one is somehow compromised, nothing else is affected.
What Happens When You Upload a File
You upload a confidential document
You select "intake-form.pdf" in your browser. Here's what happens — all on your device, before the file goes anywhere:
You pick a file
Drag a file into iMDrive or click upload.
Browser creates a unique lock
A brand-new encryption key is generated just for this file.
File gets locked
The file is encrypted right in her browser. The locked version is what gets uploaded.
Stored in her cloud
The locked file goes to her private cloud. Her cloud adds a second layer of protection on top.
Double protection
Files are locked twice: once by your browser (before upload) and once by your cloud provider (when stored). Even if someone somehow accessed your storage directly, they'd still need your personal key to unlock anything.
What Happens When You Download
The reverse: your browser fetches the locked file from your cloud, unlocks it with your key, and shows you the original. Everything happens in your browser — the unlocked file never exists on any server.
Recovery Phrase
When you register, iMegha gives you a 24-word recovery phrase. This phrase can recreate your master key if you forget your password. It's shown once and never stored on our servers.
If you lose your password AND your recovery phrase...
Your data is permanently inaccessible. This is by design — it means no one, including iMegha, can ever access your data without your credentials. Keep your recovery phrase in a safe place.
